Situated at the mouth of the Breede River along the shores of the mighty Indian Ocean, Witsand offers the best of both worlds.

Long stretches of pristine beach are complimented by wonderful displays of fynbos (Cape Flora) - the coastal village falls within the Cape Floral Kingdom World Heritage Site.

The record numbers of Southern Right Whales that migrate to San Sebastian Bay annually between July and November to calve and to frolic in the warm waters, has earned it the reputation for the best land-based whale watching in Southern Africa.

Can you imagine the thrill of watching a baby whale being born, then raised up out of the water by ‘nurses’ in order for it to gasp its first breath of air? Hike the 54km Whale Trail renowned for its diverse fynbos, magnificent sand dunes and whale-watching vantage points.

Witsand is a hub of outdoor activity including hiking, walking, quad biking and 4x4 trails, horse-riding, tractor trails, cycling, golf, swimming, surfing, wind and kite surfing, paragliding, deep sea charters, spear fishing, sailing, snorkeling, river cruises, fly fishing and rock angling.
