The Ceres valley produces some of the finest deciduous fruit in South Africa and is home to the internationally branded Ceres Fruit Juices.

Although sunny days are experienced down in the valley during the winter months, locals and tourists alike flock to Ceres when the snow-capped mountain peaks resemble giant ice cream cones towering over the region. This has, ambitiously, led to the region being dubbed ‘South Africa´s own little Switzerland’.

Ceres is home to Ceres Zipslide Adventures - the longest zipslide in Africa! Quad biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, bird watching, golfing, game viewing and 4x4 routes are some of the other activities also available.

If you'd like to delve into the history of the area, six ancient rock art sites can be viewed by arrangement through the Kagga Kamma Private Nature Reserve.

Tours to some of the working fruit farms and to the Ceres Fruit Growers packing shed - the largest in the southern hemisphere - can also be arranged. Sundried fruit and homemade preserves may be sampled and tucked into your basket for your enjoyment at home. During our cherry picking season, from mid-November to December, visitors enjoy the unique experience of picking their own cherries at Klondyke Cherry Farm.

Winters are mild with rainy days interspersed with bright, sunny days, making it a favourite year-round destination.

Throughout summer, blue skies and windless days mean every moment can be put to use exploring the town and surrounds.
