Cape Town’s newest stadium built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup joins the central city’s most elaborate urban park, with sports fields, a golf course and a promenade where residents and visitors can walk, skate, run or simply take in the sea and mountain views.

The Cape Town winter thrashes the coastline with spectacular waves that reach heights of between 9m and 15m in displays of nature’s incredible power. The area also offers eateries to suit every style and taste.

The popular Sea Point suburb is a main street that combines seaside living with shopping. It’s typical to hear taxis hooting, seagulls crying and hawkers selling their wares. Not far away is the trendy Green Point, home to some of the city’s most luxurious accommodation and shopping facilities. A drive through Sea Point takes you to cosy Bantry Bay, the site of Saunders Rock, where the promenade ends.

Sea-smacked rocks tuck the small bay away. Hotels and high-end apartment blocks line the coast, offering splendid views. Arriving in Clifton, visitors could be forgiven for thinking it’s a combination of Florida, Rio, Monaco and a tropical island. The beautiful people of Cape Town and the world love to display their bodies on the white sand and soak up the sun. Known as the city’s most up-market suburb, Camps Bay is truly a luxury seaside playground.
