Ultra Trail Sleeping Beauty

The 10km and 20km fun runs will head west in the direction of the Korentepoort dam, winding through pristine plantation paths before heading back to the race village for a well-deserved finish line celebration.

The 40km and 65km routes head east from the race village, to meander down a gorge and then up to Garcia Mountain pass, where the routes will split, with the 40km turn left onto the Garcia Pass towards Die Tolhuis, while the 65km will continue east onto the newly reopened Boegoekloof route.

The 65km runners will head towards the Kristalkloof Hut before turning west again to climb up and over Wildehondenek, and towards Die Tolhuis, where they will find some much-needed supporters’ energy.From there, the 40km and 65km routes merge onto the Sleeping Beauty trail. A lovely, runnable 2.5km winding trail takes runners to the Geelhoutbos (aka Towerbos among locals), where runners can fill up fresh mountain water before starting the main summit of the day.

The next 2km zigzags up to the Nekkie junction, where runners will be faced with a tough mental challenge - they must turn left for the final 1.2km of serious climbing to summit Sleeping Beauty, which will include breathtaking views of the Garden Route. Smile for a summit photo and head back down as you motivate the runners behind you.

Back at the Nekkie junction, the trail follows Oom Boet se pad and the Rooiwaterspruit contour path for 3km and then down to Stinkhoutbos after being spoiled with another panoramic view of the Klein Karoo.

Stinkhoutbos offers some fairy moments and a crystal stream to fill up as runners prepare for the last 4km of mountain running. Thereafter, runners will transition onto enchanting plantation paths, alongside the resplendent Korentepoort dam, and then back up to Windhoek Guest Farm, where the finish line and an ice-cold beer awaits.
