The Department of Home Affairs has officially introduced the Meetings, Exhibitions, Events and Tourism Scheme (MEETS), a significant visa reform that signals a strong step forward in enhancing South Africa’s appeal as a leading destination for international conferences, exhibitions, sporting tournaments, and major cultural events.

MEETS introduces a secure and streamlined approach to managing high-volume, time-sensitive group visa applications linked to international events. The system is designed to support organisers in facilitating travel for large delegations, ranging from delegates and performers to technical crews and support teams

By reducing administrative complexity and leveraging enhanced digital processes, MEETS positions South Africa to respond more efficiently to the fast-paced demands of global events, offering a more seamless and reliable experience for organisers and participants alike.

Event organisers with a proven track record are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to participate in the MEETS scheme. Successful applicants will enter into a formal Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Home Affairs, ensuring clear governance and participation guidelines.
