The Garden Route in South Africa’s Western Cape has officially been named the best road trip in the world, earning global recognition for its breathtaking scenery, excellent road conditions, and unforgettable travel experience.
Renowned for its coastal landscapes, lush forests, and charming towns, the route remains one of South Africa’s most celebrated tourism destinations, offering a diverse mix of nature and adventure.
The recognition comes from an international study by Autotrader in partnership with meteorologist Jim R. Dale. The Garden Route achieved an impressive score of 90.6 out of 100, with high marks for road quality, visibility, weather conditions, and overall driving comfort.
Along the route, visitors can explore popular destinations such as Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Mossel bay and George, each offering unique experiences ranging from outdoor adventures and marine activities to cultural attractions and fine dining.
