Key Safety Tips
No permits needed
Walking anywhere in the CBD is free. Be cautious of anyone claiming you need a permit — this is a common scam. Fraudsters sometimes pose as security officials and may try to trick visitors into giving away bank cards or personal information or valuables .
Secure your belongings
Keep valuables out of sight, especially in vehicles. Carry bags close to your body and avoid leaving phones, wallets, or jewellery unattended in public spaces.
Lock & check your vehicle
Remote jamming is a technique used to interfere with car locks. Always manually check that your car is locked and stay aware when arriving or leaving your vehicle.
Stay aware in public spaces
Keep your phone tucked away while walking, step into a shop if you need to use it and avoid displaying jewellery. Remaining mindful and aware of your surroundings.
