As a fight for a greener earth and bluer ocean, a way to capture the exhilarating feeling of surfing, Wavescape was started through stories of exotic destinations and secret waves, and needless to say, a passion for surfing.
This surf and ocean festival’s core focus is on Africa’s conservation in this year’s expanded line-up of ocean-conscious events. Some of this events include: the Artboard Project, Clifton Beach Screening, the Film Festival, Slide Night, and the Blue Ocean Masterclass, which aims to showcase, entertain and educate.
Using the ocean as a muse to advocate change, a group of South African creatives as well as scientists come together to showcase how global warming and pollution are serious issues that impact us all, and what we can do to effect that change. These talented individuals comprise of marine biologists, tourist boat operators, conservation influencers, surfers, divers, fishers, authors, filmmakers and photographers, and activists.
In its 16th year, the Wavescape Film Festival will be taking place in Cape Town between the 9th of November and the 9th of December, 2019.
