While effective teaching is essential, access to basic learning tools such as stationery remains a critical foundation for quality education. This back-to-school period, Edu Invest, powered by Wesgro and in collaboration with the Western Cape Education Department, is raising awareness of the importance of education resources, while mobilising citizens and businesses to support learners in need. Help build quality education and a stronger economy when you give back during this back-to-school period. Organisations supporting back-to-school stationery drives include:

Through its nationwide initiative, Buy a Pen Donate a Pen, BIC South Africa is encouraging consumers to make a difference. By choosing specially marked BIC items. BIC will donate a pen for every BIC pen purchased, helping learners across South Africa access crucial resources while purchasing high-quality, affordable stationery.

Shoppers can donate R5 at any Checkers till point or contribute R2 through the purchase of a limited-edition exam pad, with all funds supporting Meals on Wheels in distributing essential stationery to learners in need.

Donate at Checkers Act for Change

A national campaign inviting supporters to donate school supplies (books, stationery, uniforms, backpacks) and volunteer to assist causes that help under‑resourced learners start the school year with essential items and support.

Donate at Forgood

Hearts of Hope relies on corporate and individual donations to provide care and educational support to vulnerable children. Contributions support school readiness, access to educational resources, and sustainable child development programs. Donors also receive Section 18A tax receipts and may earn B-BBEE Social and Enterprise Development points.

An ongoing drive to provide brand‑new school shoes and uniforms to underprivileged children, helping them attend school with dignity, comfort and confidence. Donations (monetary or items) directly benefit learners in need and support access to education.

Donate at Help A Child

Islamic Relief South Africa’s 2026 Back-to-School campaign provides school bags, stationery, uniforms, and shoes to vulnerable learners across the country. Through donor contributions, the initiative ensures that children from underprivileged families have access to the essential items required to participate fully in the school year.

Kfm’s Stationery Vehicle Drive mobilises community and business donations of school supplies and cash to support learners in need. Stationery is collected via a branded vehicle visiting malls and community locations, as well as through direct donations to Community Chest, which manages distribution to beneficiaries.

Ons Plek provides targeted support to ensure girls in their care can return to formal education or vocational training, including mainstream schools, special needs programs, and vocational centres. The initiative focuses on preparing learners for sustained schooling, safe access to education, and long-term skill development, enabling vulnerable girls to reintegrate successfully into mainstream society.

Donate at Ons Plek Back To School

The 'Gifts of Grace' campaign provides basic stationery and educational materials to learners at schools in the northern suburbs of Cape Town, including pre-schools and curriculum support for new schools opening in January 2026. Donations support essentials like printing paper, laminating pouches, and bulk stationery, enabling children from under-resourced schools to start the academic year prepared.

Donate at Shiloh

The Angel Network raises funds to provide brand-new school shoes to children in need across South Africa. Every R200 donation supplies a pair of shoes, supporting learners from disadvantaged communities to start the school year prepared and confident. Donations are Section 18A tax-deductible.

VOC Radio’s annual Stationery Drive supports learners at Rahmaniyeh Primary School by collecting and distributing essential stationery items to ensure learners start the 2026 academic year prepared and supported. The campaign mobilises community donations to directly benefit a local public school serving learners from diverse backgrounds.
