This area is only three hours outside Cape Town, but once you’re there it will feel as if you have stepped into a different world. A more natural world. One of serenity and reflection, one where the sheer beauty of nature is almost overwhelming. Stretching from the Middelberg Pass in Citrusdal to north of the Pakhuis Pass at Clanwilliam, The Wilderness is covered in mountain fynbos, including laurel Protea, The Red Disa, Rooibos and the rare endemic Snow Protea.

Art and nature collide in natural splendor here evident in the burnt orange colour reflected off the Cederberg Mountains and caused by iron oxide. Jagged sandstone rock formations, like the Maltese Cross and the Wolfberg Arch, and ancient San and Khoi rock art, make this area truly unique and spectacular for anyone who likes to breath fresh air into their lungs and enjoys the calm of the outdoors.

To the passionate hiker the Cederberg Wilderness offers a true wilderness experience with roughly 300 kilometres of well-maintained hiking trails. Bring your boots, your sense of adventure and your memory bank, it’s really something else out here.
