Rocking the Daisies, 4-6 October

What to expect: It’s that time of the year again! Rocking the Daisies is one of the biggest annual music festivals in the province and is as much a part of the season as the wild flowers it was named after. Expect the biggest local acts, beautiful scenery and one of the biggest music festivals (and parties) of the year.

Wine on the River, 11-13 October

Celebrate the arrival of spring in the beautiful valley of Robertson at the 12th Annual Wine on the River. Cape Town International Boat Show, 18-20 October

What to expect: If you are prone to sailing the seven seas, then the Cape Town International Boat Show is definitely for you. But even those with a passing interest in boats will have plenty to see here, with some of the best imported vessels and South Africa’s growing stable of catamarans on show, along with a huge amount of gear and equipment to ogle. So whether you are looking for an upgrade or simply dream of owning your own boat one day, put this one in your diary for October.

FNB Wines2Whales MTB & Race, 25 October – 3 November

Ending October with a bang, the FNB Wine to Whales MTB race is one of the country’s premier stage races and also one of the most popular amongst cyclists. Running through one of the most beautiful parts of the Western Cape, the race starts at Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West and finishes in Onrust three days later. There are also plenty of places for spectators to cheer on the riders, making it a great event for families looking to support their riders. legend runner, 26-27 October

What to expect: This one is for the adrenaline junkies! Legend Runner is a massive obstacle course, basically an epic playground for adults, and one epic day out! There are three courses – an 8km and 15km for the mere mortals and a 21km for the elite athletes. A combination of trail running and obstacles, it’s a tough, but great day out around the beautiful town of Paarl.
