Cape Town, 27 November 2024: Technology innovation and its potential to transform Africa’s diverse sectors took centre stage at AfricaCom and Africa Tech Festival 2024, the continent’s premier event for technology, telecoms, and digital infrastructure. Held in early November at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), the festival’s 27th edition drew over 15,000 global tech leaders, innovators, and investors, spotlighting the transformative role of technology in driving economic growth and addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Wesgro, the official tourism, trade, and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape, partnered with the City of Cape Town to showcase the region’s thriving technology ecosystem. The festival reinforced the region’s position as Africa’s Tech Capital and provided a platform for local innovators to connect with global stakeholders.

Cape Town and the Western Cape is firmly established as the continent’s leading technology hub. The Cape Town-Stellenbosch tech corridor is home to over 450 tech firms, employing more than 40,000 professionals and contributing significantly to the regional economy. In addition, the region is home to incubators, accelerators, training providers and funders of Tech companies, which enables the growth of the ecosystem.
