Purpose of the position:

To support the Head of Human Resources in delivering an effective and comprehensive HR function at Wesgro. The successful incumbent will ensure that HR operational processes, people management practices, and governance requirements are effectively implemented in support of the Agency’s vision, mission, and strategy.

The incumbent will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of HR services across the organisation by ensuring that HR processes, systems, and programmes are effectively coordinated and implemented. This role will enable the Head of HR to focus on strategic HR leadership while ensuring that operational HR functions are managed efficiently and in line with organisational policies, labour legislation, and best practice.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Human Capital Management, Labour Relations, or related field.
  • A postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Organisational Development will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years’ relevant human resources experience, of which at least 3 years must be at management or supervisory level.
  • Proven experience managing or coordinating the full HR value chain, including recruitment and selection, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, remuneration and benefits administration, organisational development, employment equity, HR reporting, and HR systems.
  • Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrable experience in HR governance, compliance, statutory reporting, and policy implementation.
  • Experience working on HR Information Systems and supporting payroll administration and controls.
  • Sage 300 People HR and Payroll system (advantageous).
  • Registration with a professional body will be advantageous.

  • Proficiency in HR information systems and HR process improvement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Human Resources in delivering an effective, compliant and business-aligned HR function across the Agency.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, learning and development, wellness and exit processes.
  • Provide professional HR advice and support to managers and employees on people management, HR policies, and labour-related matters.
  • Manage the implementation of employment equity, skills development, and performance management processes in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
  • Ensure accurate HR administration, employee records, payroll inputs, and effective use of the HR information system.
  • Produce HR reports and people analytics to support decision-making, workforce planning, and governance reporting.
  • Monitor compliance with labour legislation, HR policies, and internal controls, and support the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices.
  • Contribute to organisational development, employee engagement, and a high-performing, collaborative and caring culture.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Human Resources.
