Explore the beauty of the Cape Overberg in four-days. This itinerary offers adventures for the active travelers, the food-and-wine connoisseurs and the nature lovers.

Day 1:

Stretch your legs at Oak Valley Estate:
Start early and head to Oak Valley Estate, just outside of Grabouw. Here, the more active and adventurous travelers can enjoy the Mountain Bike Trails, spiraling through the valley and trees, while others can take a gentle walk through the apple orchards and eucalyptus forest. The Pool House is also a wonderful venue to drink a cup of coffee and marvel at the views. 

Lunch at Creation Wines:
Although acclaimed for its wine, Creation is described as a destination, and rightfully so. Sitting in the Hemel-en-Aarde Wine Valley is a hub of agricultural artistry, and culinary creativity. Enjoy any of the many tastings on offer, made from their own produce, and paired with their very own wines. 

Walk along the Hermanus Promenade:
After a wonderfully decadent lunch at Creation, take a stroll along the sea front in Hermanus. The promenade is filled with sculptures and pieces, by local artists, while the trail snakes along the shore with the most beautiful scenery; between July and October, you can also spot whales in the waters!

Drinks at Fick's Pool:
At the end of your walk along Cliffs Path, Fick's Restaurant awaits you, with ‘pinchos and wine’, on the deck, around the tidal pool. It’s a wonderful place to cheers to the end of a wonderful day, and start to an epic road-trip.

Day 2:

Mission up Jean’s Hill:
For those that love an active start to the day, head up Jean’s Hill; a quick an easy trail that gives you the opportunity to admire 360 views, including Kleinmond from above. Grab a coffee in Gansbaai and explore the cliffs and caves in De Kelders, along with the tidal pools and harbour. 

Snacks at Lomond Wine Estate:
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head over to Lomond Wine Estate to enjoy a cheese platter and wine, while overlooking the dam and valley. You can even explore the incredible Milk Thistle forest on the property; a mystical environment cocooned by trees.

Stay at Springfontein Wine Estate:
Check-in at Springfontein Wine Estate and enjoy the many facilities the premises has to offer — from sunny days by the pool, to rainy afternoons by the fire, it accommodates for all occasions and seasons. Day 3:

Paddle down the river:
Start off the day with a paddle down the river; Springfontein has kayaks available for use, and allows you to enjoy the crisp morning air and mirror-like water. 

Explore Africa’s Southern Tip:
Drive down to Agulhas National Park and explore the geographic southern tip of the continent and the beginning of the dividing line between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Here you can walk along the path and enjoy the sights and sounds of the coastal town, including the famous Agulhas Lighthouse. 

Stay at The Black Oyster Catcher:
Check-in at the Black Oyster Catcher. You can enjoy a pizza and platter on the deck, and try some of their own brewed beer. When the golden light starts to set in, head to the vlei, and enjoy the sunset with a crackling fire; you can also keep your eyes peeled for hippos as you watch the sky change color.

Day 4:

Explore De Hoop Nature Reserve:
For those who love animals and hope to experience a Western Cape Safari, head to De Hoop Nature Reserve. Here you can enjoy a Game Drive; your guide will share their vast knowledge of the indigenous animals and ecosystems, as you sit back and marvel at the natural world. Warm up with a nice cup of coffee at the Reserve’s cafe, and grab a bite to eat before you hit the road back.

Head back with Padkos at Peregrine Farm Stall:
For a pitstop, Peregrine Farm Stall is a wonderful place to stretch your legs, taste the bakery creations and even marvel through the outside market or quaint book store. It’s a wonderful place to end an active and adventurous road trip through the region!
