From sculptures on the coastal cliffs to theatre productions and poetry readings, the festival brings a new element to the town that is indelibly linked to the whales that frequent its waters. Friday 7 June

Experience: Hemel-en-Aarde Brewery

THE BREWERY @ Hemel-en-Aarde offers local and international visitors to Hermanus a brand new brewery, beer garden, taproom & wood fired grill restaurant. Be inspired by the gentle art of brewing beer that is crafted and visit this new taproom brewery and restaurant.



Experience: Hermanus Art Circle

Experience a pop up gallery exhibiting every first Friday of the month at the Whale Museum Old Harbour in Hermanus.


Eat: Biga Artisan Bakery Café

Sunday 9 June

Experience: Gearing’s Point

Gearing's Point offers one of the best views for whale watching. During peak season, tourists flock to this location to try and catch a glimpse of the stunning creatures, some even braving a soaking by traversing the rocky outcrops into the ocean. It is at Gearing’s Point where you will also see some spectacular exhibitions of statues and sculptures that were part of the Hermanus FynArts Festival from previous years.

Experience: Spookfontein Wine Estate Wine-tasting

Nested between The Kleinriver and Babilonstoring Mountains, the farm offers wine aficionados a beautiful variety of robust wines grown from rocky soil and nurtured by Walker Bay’s timeless cold sea air, blown in by the Cape Doctor on summer evenings.

Tuesday 11 June

Experience: Abalone Farm Tour

Experience a tour of a working abalone farm in the heart of the South African abalone industry, in the coastal town of Hermanus. Learn more about abalone, see it, feel it, and even taste it.

Situated on the top of the cliff overlooking the bustling New Harbour in Hermanus, Harbour Rock restaurant (known simply as The Rock by locals) has the most spectacular view looking back towards the village across Walker Bay. From June to December there are almost daily sightings of whales close up from Harbour Rock.

Stanford Hills Winery produces award winning wines. Their current range includes Pinotage, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The charming tasting room serves delicious deli lunches and while also offering wine tastings to visitors

Thursday 13 June

Experience: Bouchard Finlayson Vineyard Tour and Wine-tasting

Old meets new at every turn. Everything happens on site – growing, picking, aging, bottling, labeling and packing – ensuring the same high standards of quality at every level. Also at the Bouchard Finlayson Wine Cellar you will be able to view an exhibition called ‘Harmony’ where artworks are displayed on barrelheads in the unique setting of a working cellar.

Experience: Walker Bay Big 5 Sea Safari

Experience a memorable Marine Big 5 Sea Safari. The goal is to target Walker Bay’s Marine Big 5: Whales, Dolphin, Seals, Sharks and Penguins.

The Great White House Restaurant offers diners a mouth-watering selection of wholesome cooking. The resident chef uses only the freshest and finest produce sourced from the surrounding area, which includes the restaurant’s very own vegetable garden and delicately prepared kelp toppings.


Saturday 15 June

Experience: Hermanuspietersfontein Market

This is a relaxing way to spend your Saturday mornings - while the kids try break the Jenga world record building the tallest tower – to enjoy breakfast, brunch or lunch with free wine tastings and background music thrown it makes for a foot tapping happy, fun, family pastime.


Eat: Heritage Restaurant

This charming fisherman’s cottage, which forms part of Misty Waves Hotel, is one of the earliest built in Hermanus some 150 years ago. Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, the understated elegance of the eatery is reflected in the menu which offers no more than half a dozen starters, mains and desserts – all carefully selected to cater for all tastes.


Sunday 16 June

Experience: Hermanus E-bike Tour

Learn about the rich heritage of Hermanus while cycling from Harbour to Harbour. The tour will take you from the historic centre of the Old harbour, along our scenic waterfront to the New Harbour, home of the abalone and whale watching industries in Hermanus. On route, we will see some new and modern landmarks as well as discover some delightful hidden gems.

Monday 17 June

Experience: Benguela Cove Vineyard Safari and Wine-tasting
