19 - 20 Dec 2020
Celebrating the visual arts, art publishing and the broader creative community, we are proud to present Cape Town Art Book Fair on 19 and 20 December 2020.
Art book fairs have taken off around the world, but this is South Africa’s first book fair dedicated to art books and the country’s art publishing community.
Programming includes a conversation between artist Dada Khanyisa and storyteller Julie Nxadi, who will be continuing their initial conversation in the catalogue Good Feelings. Art critic and academic, Mary Corrigall will be giving a talk on how COVID-19 has affected the local art market. Book signings by Georgina Gratrix, author and curator, Marilyn Martin, and more, will happen over the course of the two-day fair.
The Kid’s Nook will have a diverse range of children’s art books for a variety of ages. Children’s book readings will be done by author Cobi Labuscagne and Norval Foundation’s Education Coordinator, Lindsay Hendricks.
Monographs on artists, exhibition catalogues, experimental and artist books, art historical publications, as well as new, old, rare and out of print books will all be on show and available to purchase. In the midst of the festive season, Cape Town Art Book Fair offers attendees the opportunity to find unique gifts for friends and family.
The event celebrates and supports the arts and arts community, aiming to create an inclusive and accessible space. Cape Town Art Book Fair and the associated programming is free and will be taking place in Norval Foundation’s Foyer. Entrance to Norval Foundation’s exhibitions and sculpture garden is free for members.
All COVID-19 health and safety protocols will be followed and enforced.
