Franschhoek summer wines, 4 february

What to expect: Summer is in full swing in the Western Cape and there is no better time than now to sample the seasonal-inspired wines at the annual Franschhoek Summer Wines at Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards. A highlight of the calendar, the valley’s choices for summer will be showcased here, including a superb selection of white, rosé, Méthode Cap Classique and light red wines. Chef Pieter de Jager and his team will ensure that there is plenty of delectable food to go along with the wine, while live music will add the mood for this amazing event.

Stellenbosch wine festival, 5-7 february

What to expect: This three-day lifestyle festival is the country’s oldest wine festival, showcasing hundreds of Stellenbosch wines, from award-winning producers to smaller boutique wineries. Held at the Coetzenburg Sports Grounds, this family-friendly events is a wonderful combination of wine, gourmet food and live entertainment.

Feast of the grape, 27-28 february

What to expect: Join in the fun as local wineries from the Durbanville Wine Valley celebrate the harvest season at its annual Feast of the Grape. This event marks the end of the grape harvest and the arrival of the autumn season with a weekend feast filled with a number of activities for families and wine lovers alike and an abundance of seasonal wines to taste. Sample superb wines from the 11 wineries on show from the Durbanville region.

Robertson Hands-On Harvest Festival, 24 February
