The Crayfish Trail is a slack-packing trail that uncovers the secrets of the coastal towns and villages of the West Coast situated between Rocher Pan and Papendorp. The full trail is 61km walked over five days, but you can opt for a 25km two-day option or create your own route over three or four days. Highlights of this trail include Baboon Cave, also known as Cape Deseada, where stories of the past whisper from the emptiness of abandoned buildings and the views of Elandsbaai are endless.
Six Day Trail
Offering the ultimate experience of the West Coast, explore sandy beaches, fynbos paths, jeep tracks and single-track paths, as you make your way through one of the most diverse regions in the Western Cape.
Interact with local communities of the Weskus, enjoy tasty food and sample exquisite wines, and relax in comfortable accommodation – all you need is a day-pack and a camera to capture all the experiences along the way. Your luggage will be waiting for you at the end of each day’s hike.
Due to the length of the trail, you will need to be moderately fit, but the trail is suitable for families, with a support vehicle on standby should it be needed. The days are staggered to include longer distances, followed by shorter distances with a focus on more activities.
Three-Day Trail
Made up of a Southern Trail (23km) and a Northern Trail (26km), the shorter trail format allows you to escape the hub of city life, with two nights in the beautiful West Coast. The trail includes visiting an iconic West Coast farm, walking along pristine beaches, a hike along coastal single-track paths and much, much more. Just a taste of the full trail, but for those with limited time to explore, this is the perfect option to get away from it all an experience what is on offer in this fantastic region.
