All-inclusive remuneration package: Market Related. This is a 1-year contractual position (with the option to renew) subject to the successful candidate signing a performance agreement. A three-month probation period applies

Purpose of the position: 

Formulate, execute and manage a strategy for optimal engagement with the Districts to ensure a stronger focus on regional development and to create a positive and enabling relationship to promote trade, investment, film and or tourism. This includes delivering on designated areas of responsibility as stipulated in the Wesgro Strategic and Annual Performance plan. 


An appropriate tertiary qualification and or relevant Business Science qualification• A post graduate qualification will be advantageous as well as Project or Corporate Finance experience • At least three years’ experience at a senior management level is essential • A minimum of six year’s work experience in trade and investment, film and or tourism activities • Knowledge of the Districts is essential • Knowledge of the policy environment particularly the economic policy, industry structure and dynamics • Knowledge on international economy and business in the Western Cape • Knowledge of trade, investment, film and/or tourism promotion services, issues and related policies/incentives are advantageous • understanding of investment trends, marketing and communication principles, strategies and techniques • Valid code 8 drivers licence.

Excellent oral, written communication and Presentation skills • Sound project management and be willing to travel • Problem solving and research skills • Negotiation skills and financial management in the context of the PFMA • Management and Leadership (time, resources, programming, project and operations management) • Excellent public and social relations, especially with high status/net-worth individuals (politicians, ministers, councillors, CEO’s, MDs, etc) • Proven ability to work independently & be self-motivated • Afrikaans will be advantageous • Computer literacy • Willing to work long and flexible hours when necessary • Extremely honest and accountable • Valid Code B driver’s license


 Provide effective leadership to the Districts on matters relating to trade, investment, film and or tourism activities;

 Develop, promote and assist with the facilitation of trade, investment, film and or tourism in collaboration with the units;

 Channel Information from the districts efficiently to the relevant units to be incorporated into the Agency’s strategic objectives when meeting with clients, planning missions, developing research material, planning marketing and communication strategies etc.;

 Assist district municipalities in establishing relationships with the private sector;

 Assist the Districts to develop quality trade, investment, film and or tourism pipelines;

 Effective strategic and operational management of the Unit
