District: Portfolio Manager
All-inclusive remuneration package: Market Related. This is a 1-year contractual position (with the option to renew) subject to the successful candidate signing a performance agreement. A three-month probation period applies

Purpose of the position:
To be a dedicated Wesgro point of contact that will maintain channels of communication so that the Agency stays aware of the challenges and opportunities experienced by the Districts with regard to trade, investment, film and or tourism. The incumbent/s will positively manage and influence relationships with the Districts in order to facilitate strategic alignment to Wesgro’s mandates.
• An appropriate tertiary qualification and or relevant Business Science qualification • Minimum of four year’s work experience in trade, investment, film and/or tourism activities • Three years at a management level • Knowledge of the policy environment particularly the economic policy, industry structure and dynamics • Knowledge on international economy and business in the Western Cape is advantageous • Knowledge of trade, investment, film and or tourism promotion issues and related policies/incentives are advantageous • Understanding of investment trends, marketing and communication principles, strategies and techniques • Valid code 8 drivers licence
• Must have a strong mix of the following skills and capabilities: • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Excellent presentation and marketing skills • An understanding of project management and be willing to travel • Problem solving and research skills • Negotiation skills • Financial management (in the context of the PFMA will be advantageous). • The ideal candidates should be delivery-driven, assume full responsibility for the management and performance of their portfolio, behave with integrity and produce work of exceptional quality • Excellent public and social relations, especially with high status/net-worth individuals (politicians, ministers, councillors, CEO’s, MDs, etc) • Proven ability to work independently & be self-motivated • Afrikaans will be advantageous • Computer literacy • Willing to work long and flexible hours when necessary • Extremely Honest and Accountable • Valid Code B driver’s license
To play a key relationship manager role for individual Districts in alignment with Wesgro’s mandates and ensure that they are effectively addressed and delivered upon;
To assist with up-skilling and empowering Districts to continue to manage, promote and deliver on their individual strategic plans according to best practice.
To offer support, post-handover and quarterly reviews with relevant Districts;
Provide effective leadership to the Districts on trade, investment, film and or tourism activities;
Channel Information from the districts efficiently to the relevant units;
Assist the Districts in establishing relationships with the private sector;
Assist the Districts to develop quality trade, investment, film and or tourism pipelines;
The incumbent will report to the Senior Manager: Districts
